Welcome to the 2016 school year.
As a school, we pride ourselves on building a culture of excellence across all areas. In particular, our teaching and learning programs provide all students with a range of opportunities and experiences for each child to learn to the fullest of their potential, catering for distinct learning styles and needs. Our motto is 'Together we learn. Together we grow.' and we strive to work hard with all stakeholders to promote positive partnerships and a strong sense of community.
This year we have some exciting new initiatives planned across all levels of school life. Our teaching and learning mantra is ‘I Wonder! I Explore! I Understand!’ which will be enhanced by a strong emphasis on 21st century learning through the introduction of our BYO iPAD program in the upper school. Varying other learning technologies and models will also be adopted throughout the school.
We are also offering for the first time the Wakakirri Artist In Residence program. This will involve a Performing Arts group working with children across 12 weeks to create a story dance which will then be performed in a theatre with other schools across Melbourne.
Student wellbeing is of paramount importance to us and in 2016, we will be introducing ‘Kidsmatter’ which is a school and community framework for children’s mental health and wellbeing.
After receiving community grants, we will see the establishment of a fitness circuit around the perimeter of the oval and our Environment sub-committee is already planning for school improvement works to improve our grounds and establish a friendship garden.
Our parent community is always very active and our newly implemented playgroup and Feed the Family programs will continue this year, supported by some additional parent education programs.
2016 promises to be a very exciting year and we welcome all families to take an active role in helping to shape our vibrant school’s future.
Our door is always open so please do not hesitate to make contact with us if you have any queries or would like to arrange for a visit.
